About this role

At OutWrite, our Writers create pieces across a variety of categories, including Politics & News, Arts & Entertainment, Opinion, Creative Writing, Community, and Sports. Their primary role is pitching and writing content for our website and print editions, creatively expressing their unique and important perspectives on the queer community. We welcome all levels of interest and experience and hope OutWrite can inspire you to create work you’ll be proud of.

We strive to have an engaged staff who are open to having conversations that at times can be challenging or confronting. We encourage our team to boost our publication into the future. Through fostering an inclusive space for our contributors and readers, OutWrite encourages its staff to grow both personally and professionally and take part in a wonderful community!

Please note that based on the applied position(s) there are mandatory workshops led by Student Media, our parent organization, that must be completed to be officiated into OutWrite. The tentative weekends of training upon application acceptance are Oct. 17 & 18, Oct. 24 & 25. These workshops will be in-person and attendance cannot be overridden by anyone in the newsmagazine. Updated information on the training dates, times, and locations, will be provided.
