Use this application to creatively show us how you would be a contributing member of UCLA Radio. Be yourself in the application; this is the only chance we have to see who you are before we interview! Have fun with it!
Please be aware of the commitment involved with joining Radio. Interns are expected to attend mandatory classes Tuesdays 8-9pm, a one-hour radio show with a DJ mentor once a week (scheduled to your needs), weekly department meetings, biquarterly all-station meetings, and other potential events/socials. There will also be a few creative, station-related assignments. Most interns find all of these engagements fun and rewarding, but if you don’t have the time or enthusiasm, please consider applying in a future quarter. Also be aware that if you are accepted, we will ask you to attend the first intern class Tuesday April 17 8-9pm and an all-station meeting Wednesday April 18 6-8pm.
You may complete two applications maximum. If you are accepted as an intern, you will not be required to stay in the department you applied for. All Radio members are encouraged to explore all departments fully, and switch or contribute to multiple if they wish. Members of any department are welcome to have a show on air.
The events department is responsible for all events, both internally and externally, that UCLA Radio participates in. Internally, our main focus is boosting the camaraderie amongst radio members through social events and gatherings. Externally, we aim to spread the brand that is UCLA Radio to the UCLA and greater Los Angeles community through house shows, varies parties open to the public, and coordinating DJ opportunities. Additionally, the events department is home to many live DJs with mixing experience. You may have seen them around at our parties, silent discos, bruin plaza, etc.! Our DJs also lead mixing seminars throughout the quarter to teach any other members of radio interested. If you a fun loving person who can also commit time and execute a plan, this department is for you!
NOTE: All new UCLA Radio members are considered "interns" during their first quarter, regardless of department. The designation of intern or staff on each application is arbitrary; there is no difference.
