NOMMO Social Media Intern -

Nommo was founded in 1969 as the first on-campus student-run ethnic magazine in the United States. Nommo aims to continue the legacy of operating as a Pan-Afrikan student-serving magazine and newspaper through journalistic writing, creative writing, multimedia journalism, video and photojournalism, and community service. We task ourselves and our readers with developing international, culturally sound, and politically conscious perspectives to engage in a deeper dialogue on who we are as Afrikans and how we occupy and move through space. We want to recruit motivated, creative, and passionate students to channel their talents through our collective work. The Social Media staff is responsible for delivering creative, thought-provoking and frequent social media content and marketing campaigns that are readily available for TikTok, Instagram Posts, Instagram reels and X (Twitter) to increase engagement with NOMMO magazine online via our social media accounts.

RESPONSIBILITIES - - Attend weekly meetings and club events on time - Create social media content 2x per week to maintain the relevance of NOMMO Magazine online (Tiktok, Instagram, X (Twitter), etc.) - Develop content to support written and visual works including news articles, poetry, satirical and creative writing, and opinion pieces - Support various Nommo staff in the creation of online publications of written and visual works in short form content- Contribute to making social media captions and flyers for all published works once they are cleared by Editorial staff for release - Help to develop promotional and marketing materials to be easily accessed by online audience - Collaborate with other staff members on projects - Support Illustrations, Outreach, Writing, and Photography staff in prioritizing articles to be easily viewed online by audience -Participate in club meetings, events, and projects. - Attend mandatory trainings for Graphics, Videography, and/or Writing during weeks 3 and/or 4.
