La Gente Newsmagazine arose from the Chicano Movement as an outlet for UCLA Latine students to assert their voices through writing, art, culture, and political expression. Since 1971, we have provided news and opinions rooted in our collective struggle while celebrating radical Latine joy. La Gente remains committed to community self-determination, social justice, and equity for all oppressed peoples.
