Knowledge of InDesign is not required but highly encouraged Here at La Gente, our visuals team covers any and all visual needs, including: drawings, paintings, photos, graphic design, and the layout of our quarterly print issue. With so many styles and media, we do not expect every intern to have mastery in each one. Rather, we hope that each member can bring something different to the table, creating a well-rounded visuals team.

As a La Gente visuals intern, you will focus on creating content that is innovative, imaginative, and dynamic. Further, you will learn the ins and outs of producing and publishing content for our print issue, website, and social media. You will learn about how to keep a coherent visual look while also working with a multitude of styles. La Gente is seeking interns to assist the Head of Visuals to design and execute our quarterly print issue. You will facilitate the overall design process and work closely with the editor-in-chief and Head of Visuals in ensuring a cohesive thematic appearance. The visuals intern will be tasked with the digital layout of our work for print, web, and other layout and design assignments as needed.

To successfully complete the internship by the end of the quarter, you must have completed the following tasks to your editor's satisfaction: 1. Assisted with the layout of the quarterly print issue as delegated by the layout/design editor 2. Assisted with the promotion of the quarterly print issue 3. Created visual content for at least 1 web article 4. Created your own visual content independent of any articles 5. Attended 7/10 weekly meetings (TBD)

In addition to position-specific trainings, all Student Media interns must attend mandatory Journalism 101 & Media Law presentations, which take place on the same day. All applicants must attend all trainings over the course of three weekends, beginning the weekend of week 2. Interviews with the editors will be scheduled during week 2, Jan. 13-16.
