Finance team members are responsible for executing and assisting in the organization of fundraising projects in order to meet FEM budget objectives. Fundraising projects, including grant applications and merchandise ventures, are crucial to the financial stability of FEM and its long term ability to expand as a significant force on campus. Members also work on balancing budgets, drafting ideas for fun and unique fundraising events, and accounting for transactions.
Primary responsibilities are: Attending weekly meetings with the chair and making up missed meetings in the office Communicating with the community outreach and the social coordinating teams about upcoming events and creating event-specific budgets Obtaining receipts of purchase and requests for reimbursement Staffing fundraising events and accounting for sales Accounting for cost of goods sold and merchandise inventory Creating itemized lists of expected event expenses to use in applications for funding Researching grant opportunities and if the grant is approved by chair, drafting grant proposals Performing data entry of alumni information for fundraising purposes Reaching out to potential advertisers
Other responsibilities include: Assisting chair and design staff in creating merchandise Getting feedback from Fem members on merchandise designs and kinds of merch Researching new fundraising opportunities Recording volunteer hours performed by other Fem staff (i.e. data entry, tabling)
NOTICE: As members you will be expected to attend MANDATORY training sessions during Weeks 2 and 3 Tentative Dates - Jan 19th and 26th Journalism 101 & Media Law is mandatory for all interns. Magazine Writing - writing interns. Copy - content & copy editing interns. Magazine Design - design interns. Radio, Video, Community Outreach, Social Media, Social Planning, Finance, and Web Development Interns are required to choose any one of the three trainings {Writing, Copy, or Design} to attend, along with Journalism 101 & Media Law. We will provide more specific times and locations after decisions are made.
