As a photojournalist for the Daily Bruin, you will get the chance to attend and photograph events on campus and around the city of Los Angeles (including concerts, sports events, and breaking news events), as well as have the opportunity to photograph prominent individuals in the UCLA community. Photojournalists will also pitch and publish photo essays on Daily Bruin’s photography page, Spectrum.
The photo staff covers all of the photography needs for the Daily Bruin. Many Daily Bruin photojournalists have backgrounds in digital photography, but you do not need experience or equipment to apply. If hired, all photographers will go through an in-depth photography training with a local photojournalist.
Photographers are required to complete at least three photo assignments every two weeks.
Photographers must attend short, weekly one-on-one meetings with a photo editor.
Attendance to biweekly section meetings is expected.
Attendance to section workshops is encouraged.
