Explanatory Journalism Intern

  • Category:
    Explanatory Journalism Intern
  • Deadline:
    Jan. 15, 2024, noon

We look forward to reading your application for The Quad, the Daily Bruin’s explanatory journalism section. The Quad’s mission is to break down newsworthy stories happening on campus and in the greater Los Angeles community to make topics more digestible for our readers. Our stories cover student life, resources for students, city and country-wide news relevant to Bruins and everything in between. The Quad does not incorporate opinion or first-person writing into its pieces, and distinguishes itself from The Bruin’s News section by incorporating background information and additional context to all of the stories and topics we cover, rather than covering one single current event.

All applications are due January 15 at noon. Applications must be submitted through this application portal at the deadline; we cannot accept any late applications or applications via email. Once applications have been received, you will be invited in for an interview at the Daily Bruin office located in Kerckhoff Hall.

Please note that, if accepted, you will be required to attend full-day trainings on Jan. 21 (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and Feb. 4 (9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.). Failure to attend these trainings will result in your dismissal as an intern.

If you have any questions please send an email to Quad editor Olivia Simons at [email protected] and Quad assistant editor Sonia Wong at [email protected]. Please feel free to reach out with any questions, concerns or other inquiries you may have about our section and our application!

Best, Olivia and Sonia
