About the position

As a whole, BruinLife is composed of various components: the BruinLife Annual, BruinLife Online and BruinLife Photo Studio.

As a member of the BruinLife Social Media and Marketing staff you will work on a combination of marketing projects and social media projects for the overall brand.

Staff members focus on increasing awareness of all of our products (website/social media accounts) and help in increasing sales of the yearbook and photo studio by grassroots methods (flyering and tabling) and social media content.

As part of creating content for our social media platforms, staff members need to be comfortable being in front of a camera as to create content for social media such as reels and short videos.

The staff will sometimes collaborate with the BruinLife Yearbook Marketing team when coordinating certain yearbook awareness projects.

Training

Please note that there is mandatory Student Media training for new interns, as well as any trainings held by your section editor. Student Media training usually occurs on the weekends after Weeks 2, 3 and 4. Further details will be provided upon acceptance.

Responsibilities

  • Content creation for Instagram and Facebook posts, including pictures, captions and paid posts to maintain the aesthetic of current channels.
  • Create and execute actionable plans for expanding current social media channels to increase awareness
  • Table/flyer to promote the yearbook portraits and yearbook.
  • Help develop and execute creative marketing strategies for yearbook photos.
  • Deal with customers regarding purchases of various of our products.
  • Complete a minimum of 3 office hours: All BruinLife staff members must fulfill this requirement. Office hours may be completed at any time during the week at your discretion. The purpose of these office hours are to work on BruinLife yearbook assignments in-office, but we also encourage staffers to utilize the office to study, rest, and socialize with other BruinLife members.
  • Attend all-staff meetings and section meetings.
  • Complete at least 1 one-on-one with your section editor per quarter.

Qualifications

Applicants do not need prior marketing experience to apply for this job. There will be staff workshops and office hours available for guidance. However, due to the nature of the position, candidates with basic knowledge of social media and/or marketing skills will be preferred.
