About the position

If you've ever talked for way too long about a movie you love or album you recently listened to, then BruinLife is the place for you!

BruinLife Online aims to provide entertainment related content to the UCLA community, distinct from Daily Bruin’s campus news. This includes features on LA's art scene, reviews of movies/TV/theater/music, fashion updates and opinion pieces on trends in blog-style articles. No experience is necessary to apply—just a passion for sharing your perspective on media with the UCLA community.

Responsibilities

  • Pitch ideas, covering a range of events and topics for the various BruinLife Arts & Entertainment section.
  • Write 6 articles posts per quarter.
  • Complete a minimum of 3 office hours: All BruinLife staff members must fulfill this requirement. Office hours may be completed at any time during the week at your discretion. The purposes of these office hours are to work on BruinLife assignments in-office, but we also encourage staffers to utilize the office to study, rest and socialize with other BruinLife members.
  • Attend all-staff meetings and section meetings.
  • Complete at least one one-on-one with your section editor per quarter.

Qualifications

Applicants do not need prior writing experience to apply for this position. There will be Student Media training sessions taught by professionals, staff workshops and office hours available for guidance. However, due to the nature of the position, writers with organized, engaging and succinct writing abilities will be preferred.

Training

Please note that there is mandatory Student Media training for new interns, as well as trainings held by your section editor. Student Media training usually occurs on the weekends after Weeks 3, 4 and 5. Further details will be provided upon acceptance.
