You are the glue that keeps the magazine running. As copy editor you will help out the staff finalize their pieces before reviewed by the Editor-In-Chief and published. Grammatical, punctuation, word flow, and spelling errors should be your main priority but stay alert of anything that might go against our style guide.
In order to keep your position as a content editor there are some quarterly requirements to be met:
-Edit Copy for a minimum of 7 articles
-An extra 2 hours will be dedicated to social media, flyering, outreach, fundraising, etc. (your choice). These can be fulfilled with attendance at General Meetings and Office Hours.
In order to prepare you we have a couple mandatory trainings, if there are issues with these dates inform us ASAP:
-Two Student Media training sessions (be prepared to dedicate two Saturdays or Sundays);
-Trainings are on January 26 & February 2nd or January 27 & February 3rd. The specific dates for Copy Editing training is TBA.
-One Media Law training TBA, although it is usually held a Thursday after either week of the trainings.
Answer all questions while following the word limits, and upload all materials.
Do you have any experience editing any cultural/ethnic content? (50 word limit)
Why do you care about the particular usage of words and punctuation for our articles? (100 word limit)
List any favorite writers, twitter accounts, articles, etc.
Upload your 1-page resume, or your CV. PDF preferred
Will you be able to attend all of the workshops (if you have not before)?
