Are you a student who is sincerely passionate about creating cartoons and is hoping to contribute to the UCLA campus in a meaningful and impactful way? Becoming an cartoonist at the Daily Bruin may be the perfect opportunity for you!
Cartoonists are responsible for creating editorial cartoons or short comics for the Daily Bruin newspaper. They will receive requests from editing staff for a specific opinion or topic, but have the freedom to pitch their own ideas and topics as well.
Students from all majors and artistic backgrounds who are experienced in either traditional or digital mediums are encouraged to apply for this position. Comprehensive training in digital art software will be provided to all hired cartoonists and illustrators in the fall.
The Daily Bruin offers cartoonists the opportunity to contribute to one of the most highly acclaimed college newspapers and refine their artistic progress and skillset. The newspaper also offers valuable work experience in journalism, media, and communications, as well as plenty of finished works for an art portfolio.

Approximately how many cartoons would you be able to contribute per month this quarter?
Please attach a portfolio of your own cartoons or artistic work that you feel is applicable- a PDF file or document is highly preferred. Provide at minimum 2 different completed works, but feel free to add more! With each work, please add a short description of what the work was created for/if it was personal art/why you chose to include it in the portfolio/etc. If you have a website/Instagram/Tumblr/etc with your art feel free to share a link in the description below. Try to do your best to highlight your unique style or your specialties as an cartoonist!
