FEM staff writers produce articles at least every other week, ranging from current event coverage to art reviews, that are related to feminism and other aspects of social justice. Additionally, staff writers contribute to our annual online magazine, published at the end of Spring Quarter. New staff writers will begin writing after attending 2 training sessions, dates TBD.
NOTE: Positions with FEM are on a volunteer-basis.

Please write no more than 150 words for each question:
How did you hear about FEM?
What do you think it means to be a feminist?
If you have had any prior high school, junior college, or college journalism or media experience please list and explain here. (This is not necessary to apply.)
What are the strengths you believe you can bring to the FEM staff?
Why is it important to have a newsmagazine here at UCLA that is dedicated to women and feminist issues?
What other feminist publications (magazines, blogs, etc.) do you read or follow?
Come up with 3 story ideas for Fem. Write a title and the first few sentences for each one. (Be as creative as possible! What would you want to read or write about?)
Write a short article (no more than 350 words) answering the following prompt: How has feminism impacted your life and the person you are today?
Please attach up to 2 writing samples. They can be anything, from creative writing pieces to academic papers, so long as they are your own work. If you are attaching an academic paper, please only attach the first couple pages of your essay.
