FEM copy editors are expected to edit articles every week, focusing primarily on the grammar, style, and logical flow of each article that they edit.
DISCLAIMER: Answering "yes" to having an interest in writing does NOT guarantee that you will be able to write for FEM. Copy editors do not write for their first quarter with FEM, but instead focus solely on the editing process.
New copy editors will begin editing after attending training sessions, dates TBD.
If you have any questions about the application, please feel free to email email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org. This application is due at 11:50PM on October 4, 2015.
Please write no more than 250 words for each question:
How did you hear about FEM?
What do you think it means to be a feminist?
If you have had any prior high school, junior college, or college journalism or media experience please list and explain here. (This is not necessary to apply.)
What are the strengths you believe you can bring to the FEM staff?
Why is it important to have a newsmagazine here at UCLA that is dedicated to women and feminist issues?
What other feminist publications (magazines, blogs, etc.) do you read or follow?
Please attach up to 2 writing samples. They can be anything, from creative writing pieces to academic papers, so long as they are your own work. If you are attaching an academic paper, please only attach the first couple pages of your essay.
Please edit the attached document (found above, under "Attached Files") and upload your edited version here. Be sure to bold or highlight all the edits you make.
Please check up to 3 other positions that you might be interested in (If you're not interested in any, just skip this question.):
Would you be interested in writing, in addition to editing?
Are there any additional comments that you'd like to add? (Again, if not, you can skip this question.)
