Here is the Copy intern application for winter 2018! Answer all the questions in full (aside from questions that have explicitly been stated as optional). Remember to submit your application by Jan. 15, 12:00 p.m.
After the applications have been reviewed, we will contact all applicants for interviews through the email address you provide in the application. So please remember to check your emails regularly.
Copy interns come to the office once a week for a three and a half hours shift, between Sunday and Thursday. Since all copy editing is done online, you need to bring your own laptop to the office for each shift. If you have other questions about the work we do or the application process, email Simran Vatsa, the Daily Bruin Copy chief, at email@example.com or Sang Ho Lee, the Daily Bruin assistant Copy chief, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
You can find above three articles; please download them, copy edit them and write a headline for each. Once the stories have been edited, upload them below.
The exercise articles may include errors in spelling, punctuation, grammar, fact, consistency, structure or editorializing. Please find and edit as many errors as you can find. You are free to add comments to explain your edits.
Also, while we do not expect you to know AP style rules for the exercises, please note that the copy editors at the Daily Bruin edit articles for AP style as well, which you will be trained for once you become a Copy intern.
