For the past few years we have been using Student Media publications (ex. Daily Bruin articles, Newsmags Articles) in tandem with Bruinlife articles. For this reason, the Layout Editor will be in charge of designing and fitting page layouts to SM articles, specifically in all sections aside from Student Life. The Editor in Chief and Layout Editor will work in tandem to ensure that the Layout Editor and staff receive these Daily Bruin articles so layouts can be designed with said copy in mind.
The Layout Editor in conjunction with the EIC is responsible for the template design of the Events, Academics, Issues, Student Life, Athletics, Greeks, Student Groups, Grads and Dedications sections of the yearbook, in addition to any spreads that require special designs. During the production cycle, the Layout Editor is responsible for training the layout staff, and making sure they have everything they need in order to complete their assignments in a timely manner. The Layout Editor will be in charge of making changes to corrected spreads on Edit Nights, as well as making changes the EIC deems are necessary. The EIC will ensure all production deadlines align so that no deadline extensions for copy of photos impede the Layout Editor’s deadlines.
