For the past few years we have been using Daily Bruin copy and articles in tandem with Bruinlife articles; for this reason the Copy Manager will be responsible for editing all used Daily Bruin articles for grammar, spelling and to ensure they are in the past-tense. For the Academics, Sports, Student Groups, Issues and Events sections, we will largely be utilizing Daily Bruin content. Because of these changes, the Copy Manager will primarily assign Student Life articles to the copy staff, and those that are not covered in Daily Bruin content over the course of the year, e.g. Senior of the Year, a more developed Spring Sing article, etc. The Copy Manager will be responsible for assigning these articles to the copy staff and editing the written content of the yearbook,
including: body copy, headlines and subheadlines, quotes, captions and any other features or stories that may be included in the production process. The Copy Manager should ensure that all articles are written in a timely manner in line with set deadlines, and that all copy adheres to the standards specified by Bruinlife and the Business Operations Manager . Therefore, the Copy Manager should become well aware of Associated Press (AP) Style, and do the proper research to ensure all copy follows these style guidelines. In the case that articles are not completed by staff members, the copy editor is responsible for completing them.
